Nonsikelelo Precious Mthethwa-Hlongwa’s research encompasses a diverse range of fields, including molecular biology, computational biology, environmental health, and microbiome science. Her primary focus lies in exploring the factors that influence the composition and function of microbiomes in both humans and the environment. By investigating these interconnected systems, she aims to provide a more integrated understanding of health and disease, emphasizing the dynamic relationship between human activity, environmental conditions, and microbial life. She is a recipient and alumnus of the prestigious Fulbright Join supervision program at the University of Minnesota, USA (2022-2023), and she has also received the prestigious National Research Foundation (NRF) Next Generation Researchers Award (2022). Dr. Hlongwa has published more than 9 papers in good impact, peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at both national and international conferences.
