Runesu Bakasa

PhD Candidate

Runesu is a Marine Microbial Ecologist who focuses on bioinformatics. His research focus areas are bacterial genome comparisons, interrelationships in bacterial communities and the roles played by secondary metabolites in biogeochemical cycles in bacterial communities. With this set of skills, he is investigating marine bacterial mixotrophs and their biosynthetic potential. Runesu is an excellent science communicator who presents his research findings with great showmanship and enthusiasm.

His areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:

DNA extraction, Library prep, DNA sequencing (Nanopore Long-Read Sequencing), Metagenomic assembly and Genome comparisons.
