Dr Girish Nair Rameshan

Postdoctoral Associate

Dr. Girish is a postdoctoral fellow based at the Department of Microbiology and School for Data Sciences and Computational Thinking, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He has more than 10 years of research experience, specializing in microbiome studies based on culture-based and metagenomic approaches. He has published around 15 articles, including book chapters, with more than 327 citations in peer-reviewed journals. His research has a cumulative H-index of 9 and an i10 index of 8 across leading scientific journals. His current research focuses on one of the two main global aspects. 1) Microbiome-linked outcomes on climate change in polar ecosystems such as Antarctica. 2) Gut microbes and their role in human health and disease progression, with special focus on HIV among infants in South Africa.
