Postdoctoral Associate

I am a postdoctoral researcher at working at the intersection of environmental and medical microbiology, with a focus on the role of microbial processes in ecosystem function and resilience across freshwater and sanitation systems. My research investigates how microbial and genetic processes can be used to understand and predict macro-level changes within ecosystems, including biodiversity loss as well as emerging public and environmental health risks. In parallel, I am interested in how microbial evolutionary adaptations can be leveraged for the discovery of valuable biological resources, including novel antibiotics and enzymes capable of degrading environmental pollutants such as microplastics.

Alongside my research, I contribute to postgraduate student supervision and capacity development initiatives, including school outreach programmes. I am also involved in the development of a research translation platform for bioproduct discovery.
