PhD Candidate
Mayi is a microbial oceanographer whose research interest is in understanding sophisticated mechanisms that a wide range microbes use to overcome environmental stressors. His current research focuses on the capacity and ability of these microbes to synthesize, accumulate and catabolize organosulfur compounds which helps them to regulate environmental fluctuations and facilitate biogeochemical processes. Currently, his focus is on providing insights of these processes ranging from the sea ice and seawater in the Southern Ocean to spatially diverse environments of the Atlantic Ocean.
